After the dust had settled....

So, after all the craziness, otherwise known as Christmas, I got a chance to sit down with my gift. Just 1 gift you say? Well, yeah, that's all I got but I assure you, it was intentional. Not only do I find it completely unnecessary to have a boat-load of gifts, the truth is...I only asked for one thing & surprisingly, I got it! Behold.....the Kindle! ( cue the magical music! )

Alright, so for those few that have no idea what this little gadget is, let me explain. It is an electronic book reader....in lamens terms, it's an IPod for books.
Books, magazines, newspapers, even blogs can be read on it. You can purchase books from online & in 60 seconds, BING, you've got the entire book on your Kindle. You can even do direct ordering and downloading straight from the Kindle itself. It even has voice over, if you are lazy or just like to be read to, you have that option. I tell ya, it's pure genius. Here's the best part, it holds 1,500 books AND most of the books are cheaper in Kindle form, and the damn thing only weight 10 ounces!! For those of you who know me well, you know that I am an avid reader. I kill a book every 2-3 days. So this was almost a must-have with me, and I've wanted one for over a year. Now, not only can I carry it anywhere(have you ever tried walking around with 768-page Breaking Dawn? I rest my case.) and chose from any selection of books that you may have, but you also don't have to worry about where to store yet another book. My poor bookcases, they are busting at the seems, I think I can actually hear them sighing in relief. So, for any of you who are regular readers, I HIGHLY recommend you pick up one of these bad boys. It'll set you back about $300. depending on which type you get, but trust me, IT IS WELL WORTH IT!!

New Moon - A Review

Friday, November 20th, the LONG awaited day! My theater did not sell advance tickets, so at 9am, I stood online and proceeded to by tickets for 3 different shows. Ok, before you look at me like I'm nuts, my reasons are justified....at least they are in MY mind. It was SO very important for New Moon to blow the roof off the box offices sales for it's opening weekend. Not only to prove to all the Twilight-haters that we are not going away & we are a force to be reckoned with. 2nd, it was important to prove to Summit(the company response for making the Twilight Saga)that YES, this is a "cash cow". Normally, I wouldn't encourage that...I've got better things to spend my money on...but I, as well as millions of other Twilighters wanted to ensure that the 4th installment, Breaking Dawn is indeed made into a movie. So, one week later & New Moon has grossed 473.7 MILLION dollars worldwide. Summit, I think we've made our point....GIVE US BREAKING DAWN!! But I digress, back to the topic at hand. New Moon was utterly beautiful, & I cannot give enough praise to Chris Weitz. The man is a genius. I didn't fully absorb the movie until the 3rd time I watched it. Kristen & Taylor did an amazing job. GREAT performance's. I cannot say the same for Rob, since he was hardly in it. But truth be told, he can do no wrong in my book. He was beautiful and gut-wrenchingly tortured. A true Edward through and through. I always get bummed about the minimal screen time the Cullens get, but I do realize it's necessary to tell the story correctly. This is why I am SO looking forward to Eclipse & Breaking Dawn as the Cullen's become more part of the main picture. The wolves were breath-taking. And even though I am 100% TEAM EDWARD, I truly enjoyed watching the pack. I must give one more thumbs-up for Melissa Rosenberg...now I know she gets ALOT of flack for her lame screenwriting( I've bitched a time or two myself)but I must give her KUDOS for linking Harry Clearwater's death with Victoria. Absolutely brilliant.

So, now for the negatives. OK, don't get yer panties in a bunch, they are minor complaints but I still feel the need to voice them.
#1 - The Score. Or should I say the lack of one. I personally feel it's the music that drives the base emotions of the movie. The Score( not the soundtrack)was seriously lacking, not only physically, but emotionally as well and I strongly feel that if Alexandre Desplat stepped it up a few notches, New Moon would've been even more thrilling. Chris Weitz's only misstep. Carter Burwell, you were missed on this film.
#2 - Edward's hair. I'm sorry, I know Rob bitched about them fussing too much over the hair, even complaining about having to stop because a hair was out of place...BUT.
BUT, he fought a little too hard and got his way by leaving him with a more laxed "do" His hair looked like Robert Pattinson hair NOT Edward hair. Minor, I know but it bothered me. Physically, he fit the bill in Twilight, but not so much in New Moon. SUMMIT, if you hear me, please fix this! Sorry Rob, you know I still love ya.
#3 - The Cliffhanger. Ok Summit, was that really necessary? It's not like that in the book. 90% of us know what's going to happen next, so I just felt that the way the movie ended was kinda pointless. Shrugs, maybe it was just me.

OK, so that's about it. I've seen New Moon 5 times so far and plan to see it at least a couple more. Now let the NEW countdown begin......209 days until Eclipse!! And Summt, can you please announce the filming info for Breaking Dawn already? :-D

YAY! DISNEYWORLD!!

Ahhhh, the long awaited trip. The one that you plan and plan for ages and then in a blink of an eye, it's over. Yep...said, but true. Taking my 2 kids to Disney was something I wanted to do for so long, but just couldn't scrape of the cash. Just as well I soon came to find out. Selma, 9 and Nick 5 could only handle just so much before the pooped out. But the great kids they are complained very little.....though Nick kept moaning about water rides. Really? It's Florida and 90 degrees and you don't want to go on a water ride? * Rolls eyes * Ahh the joy of parenthood. All in all DisneyWorld was wonderful. There were some changes since I'd last been ( 11 yrs. ago )Park Hoppers are a must if you plan to hit all the parks. And we hit a park each day. The highlight of the trip was Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom. This special event starts after the park closes, followed by a series of Disney goodies like Trick-or-Treating, a Halloween themed parade and an amazing villian/Halloween themed fireworks show. Tickets cost extra, but if you plan on visiting in October and have kids, I highly recommend going. Disney never fails to disappoint. We hope to return soon...and this time expand our horizons to include SeaWorld & Universal Studios.

Remake Of A Classic.....

So, I just found out yesterday that Warner Bros. is re-making one of my ALL-TIME favorite movies, Clash Of The Titans. Released in 1981, it tells the myth of Perseus and his quest to battle both Medusa and the Kraken monster in order to save the Princess Andromeda. Anyone who is a fan of Greek Mythology, knows this story well and has most definitely seen this movie. I have seen some petitions out there for Warner Bros. to NOT re-make this film...and to some degree I understand there argument. Why mess with a classic, right? But I've got to say, I am quite curious to see what they do with this movie, in today's day and age and the incredible graphics they have can make this film be tremendously more realistic & effective than it's original one.
It has a great cast too, including :Sam Worthington as Perseus - Ralph Fiennes as Hades - Liam Neeson as Zeus , and the list goes on. The film is slotted to be released in March 2010. Between the cast,my love for Greek Mythology, and my love for this incredible classic, I will surely be one of the first in line for a ticket to see this movie.

14 second teaser

As many of you know, BandSlam will be released on Friday and with it comes an exclusive trailer of New Moon. Yes, you heard me...this is NOT the same trailer that we saw on the Kid's Choice Awards. THIS is new. For those of you ( me included ) that can't wait till Friday, here is a 14 second sneak peek of Friday's trailer. NO, there are no Volturi in it ( at least not in this short clip ), so don't complain to me....complain to Summit! In the meantime, ENJOY!

TEEN CHOICE AWARDS

Twilight ruled over the 2009 Teen Choice Awards, winning 11 or their 12 nominations for :

- Choice Drama
- Choice Romance
- Choice Lip lock
- Choice Rumble
- Choice Soundtrack
- Choice Actress in a Drama
- Choice Hottie
- Choice Actor in a Drama
- Choice Villian
- Choice Fresh Face Female
- Choice Fresh Face Male

There wasn't alot of Twilight/New Moon coverage...most of the awards were won off camera, but all in all it was a cute show & I'm proud to say how many awards they won. Now everyone is off to Vancouver to begin filming Eclipse!

The next installment in The Dark Hunter series....

Ahhhhh finally, the long awaited release of Bad Moon Rising. Bad Moon Rising is the latest installment in the popular book series The Dark Hunters, by Sherrilyn Kenyon. This series is technically labeled as romance or paranormal romance, but I assure you, it is so much more than that! Sherriyln draws you into her world of Dark Hunters, Were Hunters & Dream Hunters, surrounded by greek mythology and modern day love story of these souless hunters, silently protecting the world from the reigin of Daimons ( Sherrilyn's version of vampires ) Bad Moon Rising follows Fang Kattalakis( wolf ) & Aimee Peltier ( bear) and their forbidden love for each other. These books can be read individually, but if you wish to know the entire storyline as well as all the incredible characters in this series, I highly recomend that you start from the beginning; Fantasy Lover is the first installment in this series. There are a total of 26 stories, including Bad Moon Rising. Go out and get your Dark Hunter books today! They're Mad, They're Bad, & They're Immortal!

The greatest band...EVERRRRRRR

Tonight.....Madison Square Garden.....18,000 fans & Depeche Mode. OH YEAHHHHH!!
Depeche Mode has been my favorites band since they first hit the music scene, back in the early 80's. They have toured the states countless times, but every single time, the concert that I wanted to see was either sold out...or something happened in my personal life to prohibit me from going. Well, not this time. When the release of their new Album " Sounds Of The Universe " was announced, I knew not long after there would be a tour to promote it. Thanks to depechemode.com & depeche mode on MySpace, I was able to follow ever move, every announcement. I got hold of the dates when they would be here, in New York about 7 months prior to the actuall show and ran to the phone, because THIS time I had a guarrenteed in for getting tickets. My best friend Elaine, works for a company who is directly affiliated with Madison Square Garden. I told her, PLEASE, as soon as you hear about any possibity of these tickets being available, LET ME KNOW! Well, she did not dissapoint! The employees were offered a small selection of tickets, and so we jumped on them! No matter what the cost, no matter what they are I have to go!! Well, these tickets were expensive, but I assure you I ain't complaining....and on top of that, they are in a fantastic section!!! Just above the floor. NO WORDS can say how utterly excited I am!!! GAHHH!!! So today, I'm headed to the store to buy some glow sticks to flail around at the concert.....yeah yeah, so I'm a dork. I'm also looking for a hand-held fan, cause this humidity is a bitch & I know once I head into the city, the sweat is gonna be rolling off of me. EWWWW. So, check me back tomorrow and I'll give you the full scoop on the concert. YAY! I CAN'T WAIT!

Rachelle Lefevre Replaced!!!

Ok, so, have you heard the latest? Rachelle Lefevre,( seen here on top left) who plays Victoria in the Twilight Saga series....is being replaced!!!! Apparently it is due to scheduling conflicts, which I really do not understand. Don't they have a 3-movie contract?YES THEY DO! Didn't she know when Eclipse was being fiimed? OF COURSE SHE DID! I am telling you, there is more to this story than what we are hearing. I think this is Summit's doing...and it comes down to 1 thing....MONEY! Bigger name = bigger audience = bigger paycheck for Sumit. Or perhaps it's enticement for Ron Howard (Bryce's father) to direct Breaking Dawn? Who really understands Sumit's motives anymore.
Nothing is more infuriating to me than when they replace cast members in mid-stream, whether it be a TV show or a movies series such as this one. It completely screws up the dynamics of the characters and the flow of the story. I am so extremely BUMMED right now! There replacement is none other than Bryce Dallas-Howard.(seen here, botton right) Ok, she is fantastic, and I happen to like her alot. I think she can fill the shoes of Victoria very easily, but let's not kids ourselves. She IS definitely going to change the flow of the story. It's going to be very odd to see her face in Eclipse instead of Rachelle. Yes, yes, I know, get over it....and I've got 10
month's to swallow it....but it IS a tough swallow. Summit, I really hope you know what you're doing. And for God's sake.....DON'T SCREW UP BREAKING DAWN!!!

New Moon Sneak Peek

If you don't already know, YES I am a huge...massively obsessed Twilight fan. My day would not complete without getting my daily fix. So, today's fix is : an exclusive sneak peek clip of New Moon recorded from this weekends Comic Con. No words can say how excited I am to see this movie, but alas, we still have 4 months to go. In the meantime, enjoy.

My Friend Pete

Had a frustrating conversation with a my dear friend Pete this morning. I've had this talk with Pete many times before mind you. Have you even gotten to the point where you just want to shake someone incessantly till they see the light? My friend Pete does this to me on a regular basis. Why remain friends with him, you ask? Well somewhere in my convoluted mind, I feel the uncontrollable urge to help and fix everyone. ( wouldn't it be lovely if I could apply those same terms to my own life)
Pete has been married for 11 years, with two lovely children. Pete's problem....he's a walking doormat. OK, so perhaps that is just MY term for him. He's a great guy, funny, sincere, loving...but wow, is he the most insecure and passive person I have probably ever met. His wife, well, just say she wears the pants in the family; along with the only set of balls in the household too. He is miserable in his marriage and though I don't know her personally, I am guessing she is too. She has major resentment issues towards him. Reasonably so I'd guess, a few years back, Pete had a battle with alcohol and gambling, where she was left to hold the family together. But he has since cleaned up his act, is doing very well and striving to do what's best for his family. With the physical hurtles behind them both, neither has worked on the mental aspect of their marriage. I get to hear him complain everyday how she belittles him, and chides him like a 12 yr old boy. But he takes it, without ever saying a word ( except to me) , thus the walking doormat has come to be. I asked him some tough questions today....like does he still truly love her, does he want to remain with her and is he willing to work on making things better. I got yes answers to all of them. That's a good start. He's got to regain some power in the relationship and gain some self respect along with it. He plans on having a sit down talk with her. I hope he does. Even more importantly, I hope she listens. They don't need to be miserable if they can just find a common ground.
